Mighty Mouse -(Mighty Mouse Playhouse) Post Sugar Crisp Cereal mask (1957) - backside

$200.00

This exceptionally scarce mask features Mighty Mouse, the heroic cartoon rodent created by Terrytoons and brought to even greater fame through the Mighty Mouse Playhouse television show, which debuted on CBS in 1955. By the late 1950s, Mighty Mouse had become a household name, bridging theatrical shorts of the 1940s with the booming TV cartoon culture of the postwar years.

Issued in 1957 on the backside of Post Sugar Crisp cereal boxes, this mask was part of a limited set of cutout premiums designed to captivate young viewers during the height of the Saturday morning cartoon craze. The bold design captures the charm of the character with his oversized eyes, confident smile, and instantly recognizable ears.

Unlike Kellogg’s later Hanna-Barbera masks of the early 1960s, these Post Sugar Crisp premiums were printed in smaller runs and had a much lower survival rate. Most were cut out and quickly discarded by children.
