Alladin - Kelloggs Corn Flakes Pantomime mask (1955) - cutout (UK)
This colorful Alladin mask was part of Kellogg’s mid-1950s Pantomime collection, a short-lived promotion where masks of fairy tale and storybook characters were printed on the backs of Corn Flakes boxes. Children could cut them out and bring them to life in their own “pantomime” plays, echoing the traditional British stage shows that were especially popular during the holidays.
The artwork features a youthful, mischievous take on the legendary character Aladdin, complete with tasseled cap decorated with a magic lamp illustration. These masks were simple but vivid, reflecting Kellogg’s marketing drive to merge cereal with imaginative play. Due to their fragile nature and the fact that most were discarded after playtime, very few intact examples remain today.
