Pixie - Kelloggs Corn Flakes Hanna Barbara mask (1961) - backside
This vintage cutout mask features Pixie Mouse, one half of the Hanna-Barbera comedy duo Pixie and Dixie, often seen squaring off against Mr. Jinks the cat in the popular late-1950s/early-1960s cartoons. Licensed by Hanna-Barbera and issued by Kellogg’s in 1961, this mask was printed directly on the backside of a Corn Flakes box as part of the cereal giant’s push to tie Saturday morning cartoon characters to their breakfast promotions.
Measures: 8.5 x 10.5 inches
Date: 1961
Origin: Kellogg’s Corn Flakes backside premium, Hanna-Barbera licensed
Rarity: Scarce. While Kellogg’s produced a range of Hanna-Barbera masks, few survived in clean condition. Pixie is particularly collectible when paired with Dixie or Mr. Jinks, but even alone, it represents a prime example of early television marketing blending into cereal box culture.
