Sir Huckleberry Hound - Kelloggs Corn Flakes Hanna Barbara mask (1961) - cutout

$40.00

This “Sir Huckleberry Hound” mask was issued in 1961 on the back of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes boxes during a special promotion featuring Hanna-Barbera’s beloved characters. Depicting Huck dressed as a medieval knight complete with helmet and plume, this playful design tapped into both children’s love of cartoons and the golden era of TV tie-ins with breakfast cereals.

Huckleberry Hound, created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in 1958, became one of the first true television cartoon stars, winning an Emmy in 1960 for his series The Huckleberry Hound Show. To capitalize on his popularity, Kellogg’s—sponsors of the show—offered cereal box masks of Huck in various costumes, alongside characters like Pixie, Dixie, and Yogi Bear. Children were encouraged to cut them out and wear them, which means very few intact examples have survived.

This cutout measures 8.5 x 8.5 inches and features bright, full-color lithography.
