Texas Ed (Sheriff Friend of The Lone Ranger) - Wheaties Cereal mask (1950s) - backside
1950s Wheaties Cowboy Mask – “Texas Ed” Cutout Mask with Sheriff Badge
An exceptionally vivid survivor from the golden age of mid-century cereal promotions, this Wheaties cutout mask features “Texas Ed,” a classic Western cowboy character offered on the back of Wheaties cereal boxes during the 1950s. Children would have cut these directly from the package, tied strings through the marked holes, and used them to act out cowboy adventures inspired by the radio and early TV Western boom.
Wheaties frequently tied their brand to America’s favorite frontier heroes, and cowboy imagery was one of the most popular themes of the decade. The inclusion of a cut-out Sheriff badge, printed alongside the mask, made this premium even more engaging for young fans. Because these masks were printed on cereal boxes and almost always cut, used, and eventually discarded, intact uncut examples are now extremely scarce.
